Your Compression Drivers Expert

A compression driver is a type of speaker where the air movement made by the speaker diaphragm is squeezed into smaller air channels. This is because the area of the diaphragm’s surface that sends out sound is much bigger than the throat or phase plug channels that the sound will travel through. The a compression driver is connected with a horn, and the sound spreads through the horn to our ear.

If you’re seeking highly qualified compression drivers on the market? MR AUDIO has your back, no matter what. We are a trusted company with over 9000 certifications for our quality management system. Compression drivers and tweeters have different fundamental designs

In China, MR AUDIO is the most well-known supplier of compression drivers. Our team selects high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting compression drivers for customers all over the world.

A dome tweeter only moves air in empty space. But a compression driver will move air in a chamber of compressed air. This causes more air to move as the air tries to get out of the driver.

Diaphragm production
Magnetic steel production

MR AUDIO is the market leader in China for compression drivers. We deliver a great compression drivers production process. We are a leading compression drivers manufacturers with a global reputation for high-quality performances.

Benefits of compression drivers:

Increased production energy per unit of power level (more responsiveness).
For the majority of decent solutions, less displacement is desirable.
The horns enable precise manipulation of the frequency response.

We provide a wide variety of conventional and bespoke items to fulfill your particular criteria. The compression driver by MR AUDIO is a compact, specific diaphragm speaker that produces audio in horns speakers. Additionally, the compression driver can be used in a variety of situations.

You can anticipate a quick approach and satisfactory responses to your inquiries, particularly about compression driver facts. We are always available to serve you.

What Is A Compression Driver?

A compression driver is a type of speaker where the air movement made by the speaker’s diaphragm is squeezed into smaller air channels. This is because the area of the diaphragm’s surface that sends out sound is much bigger than the throat or phase plug channels that the sound will travel through. The compression driver is connected with a horn, and the sound spreads through the horn to our ear.

Is A Compression Driver and A Tweeter the Same Thing?

The answer is “No”, a compression driver is different from a tweeter.

A tweeter is a kind of speaker that makes high-pitched sounds. A compression driver is another type of speaker that is used to make high-frequency sounds. But the two kinds of speakers are different.

Compression drivers are made to make a sound that is very clear and crisp. They are also very efficient, which means that they don’t need a lot of power to make a loud sound.

On the other hand, tweeters don’t work as well and need more power to make the same amount of sound.

What Advantages Do Compression Drivers Offer?

There are many good things about speaker compression drivers, such as:

  1. Greater Sensitivity

Typically, compression drivers are highly sensitive and efficient. They can make very accurate copies of high frequencies without using a lot of power.

Because of this, we can get better dynamics and sound than most dome tweeters.

In general, we get more sound for the same amount of power we put in.

  1. Directivity

A horn is used with a speaker compression driver. A good combination of a compression driver and a horn makes it easier to direct the sound.

  1. Better Sound

This has to do with sensitivity, but overall, a good horn and compression driver design can give you better sound clarity, sense of reality, and dynamics.

  1. Brilliant Power Handling

Speaker compression drivers are the best when it comes to how well they work and how much power they can handle.

This has a big effect on how it sounds because more power means higher volume.

Can I Use A Compression Driver Without A Horn?

A horn is a piece of equipment that focuses sound energy. As sound waves leave the compression driver, the horn will extend and focus that energy.

A compression driver can be used without a horn. But it’s not a good idea to do so. Compression drivers are made to work with horns. Removing the horn lowers the acoustic load, which causes the speaker diaphragm to move farther.

If you use a compression driver without a horn, you will be using the performance from its designed specifications.  Moreover, the diaphragm could move too much, which could damage the compression driver.

How Compression Drives Avoid Distortion?

The sounding principle of the compression driver, the harmonic distortion caused by the eddy current needs to be avoided when the high frequency is output from the duct. Also, when loading the horn on the tweeter compression driver, the placement of the two must be very precise, and even a deviation of just 1mm can change the overall frequency response.
